Community Meeting on Brooks Farm Rezoning Application

  • 19 Jan 2016
  • 7:00 PM
  • Great Falls Elementary School Cafeteria, 701 Walker Road

The purpose of this meeting, sponsored by Supervisor Foust, is to provide residents with an opportunity to obtain information, ask questions and express opinions on the application by Basheer/Edgemoor to rezone 439 Springvale Road (known as Brooks Farm) to allow for the construction of a 20-lot clustered subdivision.

A rezoning is a public process which includes an analysis by County staff, and public hearings before the Fairfax County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. Staff are currently reviewing the application for conformance with the County’s Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan and will publish their analysis on December 29. A copy of the report will be available for review at the Great Falls Library and online at http://goo.gl/GTJH4B. Staff will present their recommendation to the Planning Commission at its January 21 meeting. The Planning Commission and Staff recommendation will then be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for their consideration. The hearing before the Board of Supervisors has not yet been scheduled.

The January 19 meeting will include a presentation by the applicant on revisions to their proposal since the community meeting sponsored by the Great Falls Citizens Association in April. County staff from the Fairfax County Department of Zoning Evaluation and Health Department will also present their findings and be on hand to answer questions.

If you cannot attend the meeting, you may contact Ben Wiles in Supervisor Foust's office to discuss the project at benjamin.wiles@fairfaxcounty.gov or at (703) 356-0551.
