The Environment & Parks Committee will host Fairfax County Master Gardener Tony Makara at its upcoming September Meeting.  Tony will discuss lawn care issues that are best addressed in the Fall and offer also environmentally friendly tips. Topic will include advantages of healthy turf, particularly as it protects the Fairfax County Watershed and ultimately, the Chesapeake Bay.  Importantly for many of our members, Tony will suggest what to expect from lawn services and what questions to ask them regarding their use of fertilizer, herbicides, etc.

The program will be conducted on Monday 13 September at 7 pm.

Our presenter previously headed up the "Home Turf" Healthy Lawn program for Fairfax County Master Gardeners and currently serves as a master gardener mentor for student-gardeners at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax.  Tony is a frequent author on the Fairfax County Master Gardener website.
