Mark Ludlow, owner of For the Wild Birds in McLean for circa 40 years, will speak about feeding birds during the winter

Mark has an impressive biography that includes an early stint on Wall Street and service in the US Army as an airborne Ranger. He holds several graduate level certificates in ornithology and natural history field studies. He has conducted graduate work at American University as well as the University of Wales and Oxford University. Among his academic ornithological achievements was a grant from the National Geographic Society to study taxon cycles and conduct island avian biogeographic studies of Caribbean birds on the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Mark is a teacher and has taught a class at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. entitled All About Birds. He also is the author of dozens of birding articles.

In addition to being a distinguished ornithologist, Mark is also a Registered Professional Archaeologist and a voted member of the Council of Virginia Archaeologists. He actively supervises archaeological projects where he and his crews watch birds during excavations, or at least during lunch breaks.

We hope you can join us in learning how to support the wild birds of Great Falls during the winter months. Please RSVP to suzanne.black@gfca.org.
