GFCA Environment & Parks Committee Meeting

To kick off the new year, EP will have our monthly meeting on Monday, January 8 on site at Observatory Park at Turner Farm Park. The program will be about the value of dark skies for our environment, our wildlife and our health. We will also recognize the value of the recent passing of the dark sky preserve amendment that  created a 1/2 mile preserve around Observatory Park for astronomical activities and education.

Our program speaker is Tammy Schwab, Manager, Education and Outreach Resource Management Division, Fairfax County Park Authority. Our event is hosted by the Analemma Society, who are instrumental in the management of Observatory Park and who will assist us with viewing the night skies through the onsite telescopes in the roll-top roof classroom.
