Aircraft Noise
Community surveys show that Great Falls does not have any serious issue with aircraft noise. However, the Potomac River area is a major thruway for aircraft, especially those arriving or departing from local airports. If you are experiencing recurring problems with aircraft noise at your location, you may file a complaint with the appropriate office below.
Airlines/Private Planes:
Airports are responsible for their noise impact
on the communities they occupy. These noise impacts include noise from arrivals
and departures, as well as noise from aircraft in a flight path within the

Helicopters:
Per the FAA, virtually all helicopter traffic is related to military operations, law enforcement, medical transportation, and search & rescue. Those who are bothered by noise should contact the helicopter operator directly for information regarding operations in the area.
Military Aircraft:
The FAA does not have the authority to regulate the operations of military aircraft. Contact the local military installation noise office or community relations department for more information on their operations.
